the meaning of life | lecter255's Blog

It's during those high school years when people usually have some profound realization about life. Whether it be the meaning of life or something about the world, or some "big picture." Can this be attributed to puberty, hormone changes, or the first stage in mental maturity? Whatever the reason, it's sad that usually, the aspirations stemming from these realizations are completely crushed in later years as reality sets in: the difficulty of finding a job and support oneself in this society. Merely living comfortably and independently becomes a challenge, let alone acting on those previous realized aspirations.
I remember reading a comic strip, where a high school graduate declares he will make some profound change in the world. Four years later, the same person graduates from college and revises his goals to making a great product and starting his own company. Then four years after that, the same person is a regular 9-5 employee working at a company, celebrating the coming of happy hour.
Chances are, we are all, or most likely going to be, that person from the comic. Only those who are extremely dedicated to their goal, with quite a few strokes of luck, and make a good living out of doing something they love. Fewer are those who can make it big with what they envision in high school.
Do you know anyone who declared something incredible in high school and accomplished it? This Blog Entry's Comment Board There are no comments on this post yet, be the first to leave one!
